NGU WORKS

Ngu Works is a Vancouver-based architecture practice, focused on thoughtful, well-crafted projects rooted in place and everyday life. Ngu Works values curiosity, making, and iteration, approaching each project as an opportunity to explore new ideas while delivering work that is clear, practical, and enjoyable to use.

Jesse Nguyen studied at the University of British Columbia, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Fine Arts with a minor in Urban Geography. His work there explored the social life of the public realm, grounding an early interest in architecture as a discipline that operates simultaneously at the scale of the city and the individual. He later completed a Master of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, where his studies focused on materiality, construction detailing, and the technical realities of building.

Upon graduation, Jesse joined Dirk Denison Architects, where he worked on a series of high-end residential buildings and interiors, developing an early sensitivity to craft, material, and detail. He later returned to Vancouver to join Bing Thom Architects (now Revery Architecture), contributing to commercial, institutional, and multi-family projects at a larger civic scale. There, his work expanded to engage broader questions of city-building and the role of architecture in shaping the public realm. After his time at BTA, Jesse spent just over ten years at D’Arcy Jones Architects, growing into a leading role on a range of renovation and new-build single- and multi-family residential projects, working closely with clients, consultants, and builders to see each project through to completion.

Jesse Nguyen is a registered Architect with the AIBC.
