Rogerson House
Coquitlam BC
Unbuilt, 2024
Set into a sloping forest site, the house takes the form of a dark, carved volume—grounded in the terrain at its base, reaching toward the canopy above. Rather than settling into the grade, the primary mass lifts off it: high enough to clear neighboring rooflines and open the main balcony to mountain views to the north, its underside becoming cover for the entry and garage below.
The lower level holds the garage and a self-contained two-bedroom suite, set into the slope. Above it, the main living spaces occupy the lifted volume, already clear of the neighboring rooftops—while one floor higher, the primary suite takes the best of that height: its corner window, prominent in the elevation, opens straight onto the mountains.
